What is OSP registration?

A company providing Application Services is said to be Other Service Provider [ OSP ]... 'OSP Center' is the infrastructure at a location in India which is used by the OSP for providing the Application Services.

Other Services Providers or OSP provide the “Other Services” that have grown so prevalent 

in this modern world of marketing. To be precise, these OSPs provide services like:

1. Tele-banking
2. Tele education
3. Tele-trading
4. E-commerce
5. Call Centres
6. Network Operation Center
7. Other IT Enabled services

As you can see, the OSP consist of IT services or Information Technology related services. Now, in order to engage with such businesses, you would need telecom resources by an authorized telecom service provider, infrastructure and a lot of other legal entities. The main entity among them is the OSP License. This license is provided by the Department of Telecommunication. Anyone who seeks to start an OSP Center has to get the OSP License to engage with any sort of OSP related business. Furthermore, the applicant of this OSP License should be an incorporated business entity. It means that the applicant should have a company registered under the Companies act 2013. Why? It is because this company is the one that becomes the face of OSP.

Documents Required

In regard to the DOT OSP Registration, following documents are needed:

1. Memorandum & Articles of Association
2. Certificate of Incorporation issued by Registrar of Companies
3. Resolution of The Board of Directors
4. Power of Attorney duly notarized authorising the signatory with attested signature.
5. List of Present Directors of the company with Name, Address
6. Present shareholding pattern of the company (indicating Indian Equity & Foreign Equity)
7. Network diagram - the OSP must clearly mention in the diagram whether it is using Sharing of
8. Infrastructure or Centralized EPABX architecture.
9.  is also required to be intimated immediately by the OSP without any delay.
10. If interconnection of either one international OSP centre (Company A) with another international
11.  OSP center (Company B) of Group companies is required. If so , whether in case group companies.
12.  the following documents have been submitted.
    1. Shareholding pattern of one international OSP centre (Company A)
    2. Shareholding pattern of another international OSP centre(Company B)
    3. Certificate from statutory Auditor of the company to certify that one international OSP centre
    4.  (Company A) & another international OSP centre (Company B) are Group Companies.
    5. Other supporting documents, if any like balance sheet, annual report etc. to establish that
    6.  international OSP centre (company A) & another international OSP centre(company B) are
    7.  Group Companies.
13. If interconnection of either one domestic OSP centre ( Company A) with another domestic OSP 
14. centre (Company B) of Group companies the following documents have been submitted.
1. Shareholding pattern of one domestic OSP centre (Company A)
2. Shareholding pattern of another domestic OSP centre(Company B)
3. Certificate from statutory Auditor of the company to certify that one domestic OSP centre 
4. (Company A) & another domestic OSP centre (Company B) are Group Companies.
5. Other supporting documents, if any like balance sheet, annual report etc. to establish that 
6. domestic OSP centre (company A); another domestic OSP centre(company B) are Group 
7. Companies.
